League Director Darryel Washington is an avid golfer, visionary, tenacious leader, and a self-determined professional with a heart for youth and a passion for business. His business experience encompasses financial and strategic planning, sales, and marketing. A trained athlete and 15-year baseball player, his love of golf began in 2009 when he received his first set of golf clubs as a birthday gift. This led him to sign up for training at a local golf course and he has not stopped playing the game since. Darryel views golf as a game that allows for mental accommodation, clarity, and excellent networking opportunities. 

Mr. Washington is the Founder and Executive Director of Front and Back 9 Junior Golf Academy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community enhancement organization, that aims to introduce minority youth to the game of golf.  The golf academy provides lessons in group format or one-on-one, as part of after school programs, and partners with local agencies that use golf as a part of therapy. The golf academy incorporates core values and promotes leadership, entrepreneurship, and physical and mental wellness. Mr. Washington is also the head golf coach for Hillside High School in Durham, N.C. and a certified coach for U.S. Kids Golf and PGA Jr. League.
